Wedding bands, a labor of love.

Our daughter was recently married and I made the special Mokume-gane wedding bands. I had never explored this ancient Japanese technique before. Mokume-gane is a Japanese metalworking procedure which produces a mixed-metal laminate with distinctive layered patterns. Mokume gane translates closely to "wood grain metal" or "wood eye metal" and describes the way metal takes on the appearance of natural wood grain.

This technique is very labor intensive and I spent countless hours completing these bands, but I think the outcome was worth the time investment. Here are a few photos of the process and the completed bands. Truly a labor or love. Best wishes to the newlyweds.
